ReplyDeleteThe alpha strike with melta bombs doesn't work against most good opponents. People who are going second against guard will usually reserve regardless.

ReplyDeleteRight, it does this by threatening with the alpha strike. People dont reserve as an instinct because they see a certain unit in your army, they reserve because they are aware of the capabilities of a unit in your army. It is a reaction to the demo charges) not an instinct because of the demo charges.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, my point stands that a good opponent can protect against the alpha strike (the threat that the demo charges create) with ease. If they are going to full reserve they were probably going to do it regardless of the demo charges.
