I'm sorry did you just get eaten?

I know I've been pretty grey knight happy, but don't think I've forgotten about tyranids!  I've finally made a list that I actually like.  It's much different from what the internet deems as good, but it is based off of what successful tyranid players have been running.

HQ
Tervigon- Adrenals, Toxins, Catalyst, Clusters 195
Tervigon- Adrenals, Toxins, Catalyst, Clusters 195

Elites
3 Hive Guard 150
3 Hive Guard 150
2 Zoanthropes 120
Spore pod- clusters 50

Troops
20 Genestealers- Toxin sacs 340
20 Genestealers- Toxin sacs 340
5 Genestealers 70
5 Genestealers 70

Fast
20 Gargoyles- Adrenals, Toxin sacs 160
20 Gargoyles- Adrenals, Toxin sacs 160

2000 exactly.  Over a hundred models, all of which can mess you up.  Don't underestimate that much S4 rending on your tanks either, and even the gargoyles can glance.

  1. I like it; I think it is better than my swarm list where I was always trying to make the second Tervigion score.

I have been preferring Deathspiiters on the Pod for the extra anti-tank and no chance of it scattering on to my own troops.

  4. You might consider dropping the toxin from the broods of 20. They are going to wreck whatever they hit. The points saved could, for example, take the zoeys up to 3 and put toxin on the two 5 broods, upping their threat potential considerably.

Do you think this list would survive Dameon's 3x Thunderfire list?

  5. Well honestly probably not... It's a bad version of my demons. It's less survivable and less killy, but it still tries to do the same thing. On the plus side it has at least some fire support. The appeal to it is that it gets to deploy, as well as infiltrate. It also does not suffer from the many things demons do such as null zone, warp quake, land speeder storms and other things. It also removes a lot of the randomness that comes with the demons.

However, its survivability is low, and it's limited in deployment options if your opponent gets first turn. Therefore Dameon's army would wreck it also.

  6. The 2 groups of 5x stealer is like your signature build (they started with toxin sac, now they are just naked). lol, I don't think I have ever seen you done a Tyranid list without those signature stealers, and I got brain wash by you since dakkadakka, so I never write a list without those stealers either.

This feels a lot like you know who's list, and I like both. Those 2 Tervigons on HQ slot is like the new revelation of nids.

  7. The gargoyle rush would give you some protection against the tfires at least. They'd either have to go to airburst or target the gargoyles directly. Dameon is a regular in our group so I am likely to see that list before too long with my nids, so this is something I've been pondering. I'm going to see if I can come up with a good argument against the blast marker placement off the base before that happens too; don't want any part of that!

  8. Alex- What can I say? I love me my 5 man stealer squads lol. They litterally have won me games. I'd be happy to do a write up on the pros of taking them if there is interest. Also I'm very pleased to hear that you got something out of the stuff I've written up :)

Ben- It's certainly a tough match. All I think you can really do is hope to go first and throw too much stuff in his face before he gets to really do damage. Otherwise the game is pretty much lost.
