Grey Knights Vs Jawaballs Round 3

Sorry this is so late.  As you may have noticed, aside from yesterday I haven't really been able to do much for the blog sue to school finishing up and finals.  But here's what I got for you.

His list from memory,

Mephiston

HQ Chaplain
5 Lightning claw termies
Priest
All in a land raider crusader with extra armor.

3 units of 5 assualt marines in 3 regular land raiders with extra armor

I think that was it.

Going into round 3 he was 2 battle points behind me and my perfect score.  The mission was objectives, with the objectives being pre placed in the center of each quarter and table center.  The deployment was pitched battle.  The table had a lot of ruins on it, with windows.  There was a big ruin in the middle, and 1 in 1 of my corners, and 1 in the one opposite the one in mine.  There were a lot of hills that were just slightly smaller than a rhino in random places across the table.

I won the roll for first and gave it to him, as I wanted last say on objectives.  It turned out that this would be a mistake and I should have just taken first, drove 12" popped smoke, and blitzed him.  Ahh well, I'm still learning and hindsight is 20 20.

He deployed with 2 land raiders on one side,  the crusader behind the building in the center, with mephiston just behind, and another raider on the opposite side.

I think for a minute about deployment, and decide to stack everything up across from 2 of his regular raiders. I put the dreads in front, since they weren't likely to do anything this game.  I used a hill to cover my flank from the raider on the opposite side.  The reason I deployed like this was because I knew as I advanced I could use the building for cover from the one raider, while only surrendering 1 objective to it (as opposed to 2 had I deployed on the other side of my deployment zone.

I opted not to seize although that too was a mistake.  I even rolled hypothetically and seized thanks to the reroll!

His Turn 1
His crusader moves from behind the building into range mephiston follows.  Everything else stays still and fires.  His shooting proved effective, he immobilized 2 dreads in front of my army, forcing me to make dangerous terrain checks to advance, and tore both arms off the another.  He also stunned a razorback but I fortituded that away.

My Turn 1
The Rhinos move 6" forward and unload psy cannons.  He makes some cover saves and I get a pen through but only roll a 2.  His damn extra armor saves him!  I moved my brick up, using 2 razorbacks to smoke and provide cover for the 2 razorbacks and 2 chimeras behind them.  I use the weaponless dread to give cover from the side to my chimeras.  Doing all of this also blocks LOS to my rhinos with purifiers in the back except for 1 raider.

His Turn 2
He thinks about his turn, and decides he needs to be patient to win.  He pulls back 6 with everything.  He also moves the 1 raider in the middle of nowhere up 6" off an objective to get better LOS.  His shooting wrecks a rhino with purifiers who get out.  His shooting doesn't actually manage to get through the smoke except for some shakes and stuns which get fortified and 1 wrecked razorback.

My Turn 2
I control the table, now I need to push.  I consider driving a chimera alone, 12" through a building, getting out, and melting a land raider, but I decided against it as it's too dicey.  Instead, I just pushed my brick forward 6".   I blocked my flanks, and left space on all sides for my guys to get out without worry.  The squad whose transport is wrecked advanced for some psy cannon shots.  My purifiers don't move and fire upon the crusader.  The squad that lost its transport stood still and unloaded 8 shots without cover, they rolled well and exploded it!  That's game changing.  I just forced Jawa's hand.   Another squad that didn't move shot the land raider that moved off an objective and immobilized it.  Another huge victory, as a lot of the strength of his list comes from having to rip land raiders off of objectives.

His Turn 3
He pushes the termies forward and mephiston flies out.  He fleets and charges the squad of strikes on foot, klling all of them.  His shooting manages to wreck one razorback, and of course the guys get out in the back on the opposite side of the termies.  His termies have nothing good to charge so they go for a poor immobilized razorback, (immobilized from this turn's shooting) and explode it.

My Turn 3
Well I still have the upper hand, but I don't know how I'm going to deal with the termie star and mephiston in the same turn.  Then genius struck me and my weaponless dread charged into the termies.  They stayed locked up for litterally the rest of the game.  400 points just taken out of the battle like that.  2 strike squads charged mephiston and 1 of them wounded hi with a hammer and force weaponed him.  (That's why you take them kids)

His Turn 4
He knows the end is inevitable, he moves back with his 2 unmolested raiders and shoots causing some damage.

My Turn 4
I have a loan strike sergeant get into a razorback and fly 12" back to claim an objective.  My chimeras push towards his raiders and claim an objective.  He also doesn't want to get near my meltas.  I suppress his immobilized raider with my purifiers.  I even manage to explode one of his raiders with a hammer thanks to hammer hand.  TAKE HAMMERS!

His Turn 5
He does what he can and shoots and charges where favorable.

My Turn 5
I push for quarters, and fortify my objectives.  I counter charge where I can and wipe a lot of marines.

Here the game ends, but he wants to play turn 6 to see what happens.  Really it's me just mopping up the rest.

It was a fun game and well played.  But a few key dice rolls went my way instead of his, and he didn't have a good answer for my 6 troops in a 5 objective game.

Back to bugs!

This is an army I've always kept in the back of my head.  Every time I've given it any thought I've immediately dismissed the idea, as I'd be spending far too many points on elites, and no reliable way to kill land raiders.  Well I finally sat down for about an hour playing around with points, and combos, and I've come up with what I have to show.  What I think will hopefully revolutionize tyranids.

So, having played with and against tyranids numerous times, the scariest thing for me to face in an opposing army is ymgarl stealers.  They are always the unit that causes the most damage.  They are also a unit that is easily forgotten because of hive guard.

Well, now I've taken ymgarls, and I think that very few armies, barring dark eldar and *maybe* land raider spam can stop.  It would put up a serious fight against just about everything in my opinion, and I'd love to get some test games in soon.

Here's what I have,

HQ
Swarmlord 280
Guard- lash whips 65
Tervigon- Adrenals, Sacs, Catalyst, Clusters 195

Elites
10 Ymgarl stealers 230
10 Ymgarl stealers 230
10 Ymgarl Stealers 230

Troops
Tervigon- Adrenals, Sacs, Catalyst, Clusters 195
Tervigon- Adrenals, Sacs, Catalyst, Clusters 195
10 Gaunts 50
10 Gaunts 50
10 Genestealers (or 8 with sacs) 140
10 Genestealers (or 8 with sacs) 140

2000 on the nose.  It doesn't care if it goes second, it will reserve and eat you.  In fact, it wants to go second. Or wait, you took second and reserved, trying to be sneaky I see, well I'll just block your board edge :P.  30 morphing stealers popping out of terrain with +1 reserves, and 20 coming in from the sides, with 3 tervies and the swarmlord running up the center.  And you thought you were safe...

Who needs shooting anyway!?

Thoughts?

Mordheim!

My local store is starting up a mordheim campaign, and I for one am psyched for it.  I played it a couple years ago, and man was it fun!  I'm really looking forward to it this time around.  The only hard part now is actually getting my orc warband together.

40k tournament!

The Only Game In Town http://www.togit.com/home will be holding a 2000 point 40k tournament on June 25th. It will be run using the NOVA style format, meaning it's a win/loss system with a primary, secondary, and tertiary objectives. Scoring will be done by a win loss system first, where the only undefeatd player at the end of the day will be the tournament champion.

It's a fairly complicated. but very accurate system for figuring out strength of schedule, much more so than battle points. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to explain it.

Painting will not be required, but highly encouraged. There will be a paint score, which will be done seperately from "battle points". There will be prizes for Tournament champion (only player to go undefeated), Overall champion (50% battle, 50% paint), best painted, and prizes for the 4 other 3-1 finishers.

It will be a 4 round RTT, with registration opening at 9:30 and dice rolling around 10:00am.

Registration will be $20, I highly suggest you pre register by emailing or PM'ing me. My email address is Nicknanavati@yahoo.com

We can only accomodate 16 people due to limited space.

Missions will be taken straight from the missions from NOVA. As in, standard deployment types, primary, secondary, tertiary objectives which consists of 5 objectives, table quarters (by victory points), and kill points (win by 3).

Let me know if you're interested, or if you have any questions.

Round 2

For those who don't remember, or who haven't read yet, my list can be found in my post for round 1 (the post below this).

Round 2 I found myself paired against Fritz, a very good general known for winning with bad armies.  His bad army for the day, tyranids!  Now I too play tyranids and know the army inside and out, which reallly just puts me an even more of an advantage, and  given the match, pretty much guarantees the win.

I went into this game really confident, but without showing it.

His list
3 Tervigons- adrenals sacs catalyst (1 as HQ)
3 Trygons- adrenals
2 units of 10 gaunts
1 unit of 10 stealers
1 unit of 10 ymgarls
3 hive guard
3 venomthropes

The mission was Table quarter and spearhead.  A minor win was control more table quarters than your opponent, a masacre was control all 4.  You held a quarter by having the most VP's in it.

He won the roll for first and took it.

He deployed trygons in front, tervies behind them, venomthropes and hiveguard in back.  1 unit of gaunts formed a screen and 1 sat in the back.  His stealers out flanked and lied dorment.

I had a building and a pice of area terrain in my deployment zone, with not much space in between,so I resolved to move as little as possible early on to not risk my mobility end game.  I deployed in a straight wall, 1 chimera on each side, 3 purifier rhinos in frint (sideways), 4 razors behind (I made sure to leave enough room to be able to fully pivot everything) and 2 dreads on the upper levels of the building and another on a flank.

I failed to seize twice!

His turn 1
He casted catalyst on all the trygons and ran them as far forward as possible.  His tervigons pushed up behind them and the hive guard and venoms did as well.  He ran everything between 4-6".  2 trygons and 3 tervigons were being covered by the venomthropes.

My Turn 1
I shuffled a little bit.  But I positioned it in such a way that it was impossible for the ymgarls to completely surroud a transport (to kill its contents.  I shot the multi lasers, heavy bolters and dreads at the hive guard and killed 2... I shot the purifiers at the trygon without cover and between 24 psycannons shots he suffered 5 wounds.

His Turn 2
He moved all his stuff up then realized he wanted to spawn guants, so I being for too nice let him redo his turn and spawn gaunts.  No reserves came in!  The loan hive guard popped open a purifier rhino, they got out in front.  After rolling a 6 for difficult terrrain and a 6 for fleet a trygon got assualt range on them (he needed a 4 as I was in terrain) Another trygon rolled well for fleet and got a charge off against a rhino and wrecked it.  About 20 gaunts (11 were spawned and 10 started) ran up to support the trygon against my purifiers.  Coteaz got sactuary off and nobody took a wound from dangerous terrain, but all of the gaunts and the trygon failed their charges!  Man that was lucky, but it makes up for his crazy run rolls.

My turn 2
This was my chance to relly make him hurt.  I got out a purifier squad and prepared a multicharge witrh both squad.  I wanted to get the 20 gaunts and the unmolested trygon.  I then kept my positioning to protect the ymgarls.  I moved a melta chimera up into range also.  A random heavy bolter got the trygon with 1 wound left.  3 meltas shot the tervigon that spawned and 2 psycannons on heavy and the 3 dreads did also finishing him off.  The multicharge was successful, 2 cleansing flames later (since the tervigon died the sergants were able to be positioned so that they were out of range for shadow in the warp) the gaunts all died.  The trygon managed 4 wounds on a purifier squad, and after hammer hits and fearless wounds, it died.

His Turn 3
He's in trouble now!  His outflanking squad of stealers came in and charged a dread (although they lost 4 on the way in due to sactuary).  The dread and 6 stealers stayed locked until turn 5 so I wont mention them again unitl then.  The 2 tervigons that were left moved up with a trygon and unloaded roughly 28 gaunts into me (1 spawned out).  They all struck last due to sactuary and my cleansing flames went off despite shadows.  Tons of gaunts died and were killed via fearless saves.  The trygon cahrged a rhino and wrecked it.  The loan hiveguard who I let live killed a dread.

My Turn 3
I got out 2 strike squads and unloaded 3 meltas into the trygon.  Then he was force weaponed away, this time he took a whole squad with him though.  I melta'd and heavy boltered a tervigon to 1 wound.  2 remaining purifiers from a squad charged him hoping to finish him but failed.  The dread blew away the last hive guard.

His Turn 4
The ymgarls get out and multicharge a strike squad and 2 razors.  The razors were fine, and the strikes held after gettinglucky and killing 4.  The venomthropes charged my 2 purifiers but only killed one.  I still failed to kill the wounded tervigon.  His one tervigon spawned another 12 gaunts or so, which just shot some strikes.

My Turn 4
I got a striek squad out and charged them into the ymgarls and finished them with some hammerhand.  I got another strike squad out and coteaz and the meltas he was with.  I moved my razors and dreadforward to shoot his gaunts in his backfield and forced a leadership test which they failed.  They were below 50% so they ran off the table.  The meltas shot the tervigon and did 2 wounds.  The strikes multicharged the venomtrhopes (which were engaged with the purifier fighting the tervigon) and the gaunts that were previously spawned.  I put the hammer in base with the venoms.  Then coteaz charged the 4 wound tervigon and used the meltas to multicharge the guants as well.  1 big combat later, the 1 purifier died, so did a few strikes.  The gaunts died due to tervigons dying and wounds caused.  Both tervigons died.  And, the venomthropes died.  The stealers managed to blow up the dread in combat and consolidated.

His Turn 5
The stealers charged coteaz and his meltas, and killed a melta guy.  Then coteaz brought the hammer down and killed 2 stealers.  Bringing them to just 1, since the dread killed a few over time.

My Turn 5
I push into all 4 quarters, grab the objectives and finish the last stealer.

All in all a really fun game and Fritz is a great guy.  He knew what he was in store for and he took it like a man.

Moving onto round 3 I was the only one with a perfect score, and my oppoent was Jawaballs who was just 1 point behind me.

Round 1 I found myself paired up against Dark Eldar.

His list from memory was,

2 Haemonculi- liquifiers
3 units of 3-4 truborn with blasters all in venoms
2 units of 5 warriors with blasters in venoms
2 units of 5 warriors with blasters in raiders
2 units if 8 wychs in raiders
1 units of beasts- 5 khymeras 4 razorwings 3 beast masters
3 ravagers

All his tanks had flicker fields.

Pretty standard issue for dark eldar I'd say.  It would be scarier if those warrior raiders turned into venoms and the beasts were bigger, but as it is it's solid.

The mission was kill points DoW.  Bonus points for hvaing more table quarters, VP's and objectives.  Objectives were placed NOVA style 1 in each quarter 1 in the center.  1-2 KP difference is a draw, 3-4 is a minor, 5+ is a masacre.

I'm really happy I drew dark eldar in  this mission.  They really struggle against grey knights and they have a high number of easy kill points.

I won the roll for first and chose to take it.  I put out the 1 razorback with searchlights again.  Everything else came on turn 1.

In responce he deployed 1 wych raider in the coprner behind some terrain for cover.

My Turn 1
I drove my whole army 12" in the center.  And I drove my razorback 12" back.

His Turn 1
He flew on with everything.  2 trueborn venoms, 1 wych raider, and a warrior venom went flat out to the center.  The 3 ravagers came on near the wych raider he deploys with LOS to my whole army.  They were accompanied by 2 warrior raiders.  The wych squad that started on the table also boosted up my right flank.  The last true born raider went flat out up the opposite flank unsupported.  And the last warrior venom and beast squad came on in the center.

In shooting he did nithingdue to night fight.

My Turn 2
I need to get a good alpha strike on his amry to really cripple him.  I moved up 6" with just about everything, and kept everything close to support each other.  I shot my army accross his.  I wanted to get his wych squad that boosted up the flank foot slogging, I also wanted to shut his ravagers up, and knock out the trueborn venoms.  Well after the dust settled the wych raider died, 2 ravagers died, and 1 true born venom died.  Not bad, but I was hoping for better.

His Turn 2
His wych squad that was now footslogging up a flank had no range to anything, but his haemonculus that was with them disengaged.  The raider with wychs in the center drove up 12" and unloaded wychs and the haemonculus.  The beasts also moved up.  His trueborn unloaded and everything else shuffled around.  His shooting popped open the razorback closest to the footslogging wychs and stunned some tanks.  He blew my strike squad that was fprced to disembark away with venoms.  In assualt the wychs and beasts both charged a purifier rhino and exploded it.

My Turn 3
Well in my mind a few cleansing flames and some multi charges and the beasts and wychs are gone.  So I got out 2 purifier squads and a strike squad and multi charge them.  I got a strike squad out and had them shoot the wychs away then charge them and finish them.  A random heavy bolter got the haemonculus they left behind.  My dreads and such knocked down another 2 venoms or so.  I also slaughtered all of the trueborn that disembarked to shoot.  And in combat with the beasts wychs and purifiers I only got 1 cleansing flame off and killed 2 wychs and 2 wounds on a flock.  After all was said and done, I lost a purifier squad and he lost most of his wychs and a good number of the beasts.  He lost by 4 but both squads managed to stay.

That was a let down.

His Turn 3
He moved up and disembarked his warriors and shot my infantry that disembarked.  He unloaded dark lances into the side armor of my chimeras and immobilized them both.  There was a raider in the middle of my army who I completely forgot to shoot, which flew behind my dreads and immobilized a dread.  In combat he didnt accomplish much and I got cleansing flame off again and finished the wychs and injured the beasts but they held tight.

My Turn 4
Only about 40 mins left in the round so I start pushing for table quarters and objective.  I'm pretty sure I've got a lock on kill points and VP's.  I had 2 razorbacks with strike squad on my left, they both disembarked.  1 charged into the beasts to help finish them, the other pushed up with the razorbacks and shot raiders and warriors.  I killed a squad of warriors!  Coteaz ot out alne and ran up and charged a squad of warriors and we tied combat 1 wound to 1 wound...  I knocked down all of his tanks except for 1 shaken venom and a raider.  1 lone strike sergant with a hammer charged into a squad of warriors and killed 1 but they stayed.

His Turn 4
He moved up a warrior squad and charged them into my 1 strike sergant but he passed all 4 saves, won comba and swept both squads!  His last warrior squad in the back shot atmy strike squad killing 2 guys but I passed my ld test.  He turbo boosted a venom into the corner behind blos terrain.

My Turn 5
Coteaz finally kills those 5 guys in combat and conolidates behind some blos terrain.  I move up and shoot the warriors that shot me, but they went to ground and took minimal casulties.

His Turn 5
He does what he can.  Unloads a venom which I forgot to shoot and kills a strike squad.

We roll for turn 6 and get it.

I finish off the venom and warriors.

At this point he conceeds although we did roll for turn 7 and got it.

A great game against a really fun guy, probably the most fun game I had at the tournament.

Well going into round 2 Fritz, Jawaballs and myself are the only people with perfect 13's.  So let's see what happens.

Back from battle for salvation RTT

I got back from the battle for salvation RTT today and it was a lot of fun, with a lot of competitive guys out there.  I managed to take 1st overall again, by a landslide with my new grey knights.  I even got to play 2 internet celebraties in one day, Jawaballs and Fritz!

Battle reports to come.

I need dozers!

Specifically Imperial Guard Chimera dozer blades.  9 to be exact, but I'lltake what I can get.  I have tons of gaunts, and sisters of battle with bolters, along with an unopened box of demonettes.  More bits than I know what to do with, and even cash that I'm willing to offer.

If anyone has any any, or if they know where I could get some please let me know.

I know most of you probably don't play warmachine/hordes, but I do!  And although my blog focuses on 40k primarily, I think we can all agree I need to spread the love.

Here's a skorne list I came up with based off some reearch I've done.

P Morghul (+7)
Basilisk Krea 4
Cyclops Brute 5
Cyclops Shaman 5
Razorworm 4
Rhinodon 7
Gladiater 8
Bronzeback 10
Molik Karn 11

Min Paingivers 2
Swamp Gobbers 1

50 exactly.  What do you think?

Quite a problem?

Next Saturday my local store will be having a warmachine/hordes tournament.  It will be the first one I'm actually able to participate in this year due to previous commitments.  (They hold these events monthly) I'd love to bring out my skorne to see what's up and kick some butt, and although I frankly suck at warmachine it would still be a load of fun.  Also being home means I get to spend more time with my girlfriend.

Now on the other hand I could drive up to New York for about 2 hours to play in a GT put on by battle for salvation.  They are a great group of guys who I really like and I'd love to catch up with them.  Alex Fennel, Danny Internets, and Jawaballs are just a few attendees.  It's 2k points with no paint requirement so it's a great chance to practice my grey knights.

I'm fairly distraught, any advice?

Round 2

My opponent was my friend Luke, who I play with fairly regularly.

His list was as follows:

HQ
Duke Sliscus
Lady Malys

Elites
4 trueborn- 4 blasters
Venom- 2 shuriken cannons
4 trueborn- 4 blasters
Venom- 2 shuriken cannons

Troops
3 units of 5 warriors- blasters
3 venoms- 2 shuriken cannons
2 units of 8 wychs- haywires leader with power weapon
2 raiders

Fast
Beast Pack- 15 khymeras 4 razorwings 5 beast masters

Heavy
Ravager
Ravager
Razorwing- 4 missle things

The mission was modified capture and control.  3 objectives, 1 in each deployment zone, 1 in the center.  Deployment was DoW.  I won the roll for first and took it, because I wanted the first strike without night fight.  And, just because I had the option, I put out the razorback with the searchlight and the strike squad in center field. He opted to deploy nothing and bring eveyrthing on turn 1.

He then seized the initiative.  Then he seized the initiative again!  I thought coteaz was supposed to be insurance against that!  Grr...

His Turn 1
He flew on, and unloaded approximately 14 dark lances into my razorback, but somehow he only managed to stun it!

My Turn 1
The strike squad inside got out and walked towards the trueborn that had unloaded.  The razorback moved closer to the warp beasts and search lighted them.  My army came in completely centrally, Rhinos in front sideways popping smoke.Razors and chimeras behind.  Dreads behind that.  Everything unloaded into the beasts and killed all but 1 beast master and 5 or 6 chimeras.  The strike squad from the razorback charged the trueborn and wiped them.

His Turn 2
His retaliation wasn't too bad... at first.  He moved up and gained ground.  He did away with my strike squad and razorback as expected.  He forgot to shoot his razorwing and after he ended his turm he was like oh crap.  I being far too nice let him shoot it and it managed to explode a rhino with the lances and immobilze another rhino with the scatters from the missles...

My Turn 2
I moved up a little and shot what I could.  With my plethora of mid strength shooting I managed to shake a raider, weapon destroy a raider, take both weapons off a venom, wreck a venom, and stun a ravager.  I got a squad out and moved up tp try and bait the beasts.  Big problem is I was barely 12" onto the table and my mobility was shot.

His Turn 3
He moved up with ervything.  The beasts charged a razorback a rhino and my purifiers that I moved up on a flank.  And his wych squads both unloaded to charge a rhino a razorback and coteaz' chimera.  His shooting didn't do much aside from weapon destroy a razorback or 2.  In combat 1 purifier survived since he put as few models as possible on that squad.  And the wychs only accomplished immobilizing coteaz' chimera and causing massive stuns and shakes.

My Turn 3
I put a dread in combat with all the beasts to keep them tied up.  2 purifier squads moved to multi charge the wychs.  They both suceeded but only 1 got its cleansing flame off.  I killed abouut 12 wychs over the combat and he killed about 4 of my purifiers, but somehow both squads managed to stay.  What shooting I had didn't really accomplish anything aside from immobilizing a ravager...

His Turn 4
Time is running short so we decide to call the game after this turn.  He leaves a warrior squad in a raider behind a lot of cover in his deployment zone on his objective.  He boosts his other warrior venom onto the center objective.  Then he boosts like 5 other skimmers around it to make it almost impossible to contest the objective.  On the bright side he didn't shoot much...

My Turn 4
I immobilize a razorback on difficult terrain terrain, he was my chance of getting behind his skimmer wall to disembark, run and contest his objective.  I secure my objective with 3 melta guys.  I shot a dread at the venom in his backfield on the objective and wrecked it.  Then 2 multi lasers and a strike squad ashot the unit which disembarked.  They managed 2 wounds on the squad because he went to ground, and later he passed his ld test.  I moved a unit of strikle out of the razorback and got as close as possible to his objective while following the 1" rule.  (About 8" away).  I shot everything at the venom in their way (6 meltas, a heavy bolter, a dread, and a strike squad) and stunned ut a lot.  Well all I could do was charge.  I spent about 3 solid minutes deciding which models I wanted to move where, and in what sequence.  Eventually I made the right decision and barely got to contest the objective.

In the end we drew the primary, (objectives) drew the secondary, (kill all enemy troops) and we both got both bonus points.  It was a straight draw all the way down the line, and a fantastic game.

That put me in a 3 way tie for second at 31 battle points each.

Something I've been underestimating...

10 man purifier squads.  10 purifiers- 2 incineraters, 2 psy cannons, 4 halberds, 2 hammers.  This unit can handle anything without much trouble.  It's truely fantastic.  It can shoot from inside a rhino early game, it can incinerate and bolter away most things up close.  And in combat it will wreck house.  Clocking in at a little over 300, I don't know if its worth it until ard boyz point values, but it's a phenominal unit.

5 Long Fangs- 4 missles
5 Long Fangs- 4 missles
5 Long Fangs- 4 missles

The table had an enourmous hill that took up 2 quarters, a GW landing pad in another corner and a forest in aother corner.  He won the roll for first and took it.  He chose the deployment zone with the landing pad and put his long fangs on it.  Then he put bjorn and the rhinos in fromt.

I took the oppurtunity to make use of teh terrain and hide my whole army behind the giant hill.  He would draw LOS to a few tanks and dread but everyone had cover, and many had 3+.

His turn 1
He scoots up with his rhinos and unloads missles and living lightnings into my army.  He managed to stun a dread and explode the chimera with coteaz and his melta buddies.

My Turn 1
The dread fortitudes the stun, and I move my rhinos and razors up a little to gain ground, but still being defensive and playing for cover.  I unload heavy bolters and auto cannons all accross his army and kill 1 long fang squad and bring another to 3 models.

His Turn 2
He shuffles a little, and shoots accomploshing nothing with my cover and fortitude.

My Turn 2
I drove my 3 purifier rhinos up 12" and smoked.  They were now taking up center field.  Everything else stayed behind to support and fire havey bolters.  I knocked out another long fang squad and immobilized a rhino.

His Turn 3
His scouts come in and blow up a dread, the his shooting wrecks a razorback.

My Turn 3
I move around my rhino wall with my razors to protect my flanksand support, then I unloaded 6 psy cannons on heavy from the purifier rhinos and knocked out the 3 mobile rhinos.  I used the heavy bolters to shoot up a squad.  The heavy flamer from a chimera burned the wolf scouts to 1 man, then the melta henchmen finished him.

His Turn 4
He footslogged his way up a hill to get to my rhinos and tried to do what he can, he was supprted by bjorn.

My Turn 4
I decided to make a game out of it and get out as opposed to just sit there and shoot.  I got out and shot then charged, however 2 units rolled poorly for difficult terrain and failed.  The 1 squad that got it's charge off finished off their respective unit.

His Turn 5
He charged and wiped out the squads that finished the squads that failed their charges.  Bjorn also ate the squad that was successful with their charge.

My Turn 5
I got out and anhilated all the remaining grey hunters.

We rolled to see if the game ended and it did.  I got the primary, and the secondary and all the bonuses for a full 20/20.

tournament yesterday

I brought my new not so shiny grey knights to their first tournament yesterday.  The tourament was a small local one, but it consisted of 14 of the best players in the state.  I'm not joking lol, I was expecting this to be a walk in the park, but it was pretty far from it.

I got paired up with a tight space wolf list, a solid dark eldar list, then a strange ork list.  All in all, I managed to win 1st overall by 3 battle points.

I'll have battle reports up soon!

Oh no!

I ordered 10 old school psy cannons from games workshop last monday, because I'm not a fan of the new ones.  And they still haven't shipped.  That's not the end of the world though, I have 4 of my own from the new boxes, and 2 of my friends are going to let me borrow their's so that will be good.

But then I tried ordering my auto cannon arms from the war store today (I was going to have them over-nighted), but alas they are out of stock.  This is just not a good sign for my tournament this weekend.

It's a good thing the army doesn't have to be painted, otherwise I'd be busting out my tyranids lol!

Time to go improvise some auto cannons!
