St. Valentines day is coming up in February, and it's a 60ish person GT that brings out a lot of the competitive east coast players. It's an 1850 pointer, so I'm thinking that I'll just take my 2k nova invitational list and tweak it down.
What I'm thinking

So what do you guys think?
I like it. But I like the 2k list too :)
ReplyDeletePersonally I'd still probably try and find a way to get icons on two of the bloodletter squads just for safety dropping. It's a problem with this many models.
I'm trying to make it out for this too! Not sure what I'd bring but be warned my little brown friend!
Damn that shit is evil !! Nice and simple too .

Brad you deffinitely should! I'd really like to get a game in with you at some point. I hope you can come out for it!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the list, I could drop 3 bloodletters to add the icons, which would probably be an easy fit. I don't know it makes me feel al unfluffy and sad, but from a competitive aspect do you guys think its worth it?
Thanks Steve!
I think we have discussed the need for icons in the past. I would definitely work them into your list.
ReplyDeleteG
Yeah, honestly I think you guys are right, I'm going to have to try that out.
ReplyDeleteI like the list quite a lot, but I completely disagree with adding Icons.
ReplyDeleteIt's a larger discussion, but I practiced Deep Striking with my Daemons to the point I rarely mishap. I don't keep track, but it's that rare... maybe once in 10 games?
Not that Icons don't have a place, but now when I use one it's a tactic that's available, not something I'm dependent on. Sometimes landing next to the Icon isn't as good as Deep Striking elsewhere on the board - but inevitably caution will win out if you're uncomfortable and you'll find yourself making inferior moves.
I know Steve plays Daemons a lot too, so it's a different point of view, but at least consider it. Deep Striking is a skill - arguably the most important a Daemons player will need.
It's worth practicing in real games, where a win or a loss is on the line - that's when you learn!
Good luck on your blog.
@Brent
ReplyDeleteIt's more about the types of units and how closely packed the table is going to be. If he hems his opponenent in well then it's going to be very hard to deepstrike, avoid mishap, and still be viable the next turn. I agree that Icons are bad for new Daemon players. I think that as lists evolve though that sometimes they play an important part as you should be able to determine when the risk is worth the reward.
Hey Brent thanks for checking out the blog!
ReplyDeleteAs far as icons go I've been playing demons for almost a year now, and have had quite a lot of success with them. That said, I know how to deep strike properly, in my fatecrusher list I mishapped maybe once a tournament, and that only due to some horrible roll.
The icons are only up for consideration, because in my test games I've often surrounded the enemy with my army by turn 3, leaving few good places to deep strike. I feel like with this many units, it's far too east to mishap.
