Well tht's not true, I actually bought some eldar lol, but here's what I'm thinking.
I wanted to go from something more of my style which is be as much of a dick to your opponent as you can, that seems to be all tau and eldar are good for. And to mitigate eldar's inate overcostedness I went as skimpy on the upgrades as possible. I also wanted to break the mold of 3 prisms. 4 5 man DA units in wave serpants and 3 units of 5 fire dragons in wave serpants, while still maintaining a competitve edge.

What do you think?
Doesn't seem bad. I would be tempted to drop the 3 Warwalkers for another Fire Prism, but I don't play Eldar so what do I know? I just feel like those guys are going to instantly drop by the time they get into range.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't think Yriel is bad, but what is your reasoning? Just for an Autarch+ or do you have a specific idea for him? I've seen a couple lists doing well using him lately, but I'm not really sure how.
Oh, I should note that I understand why you feel like you need the firepower they bring, and with Wave Serpents protecting them, maybe they will be fine. You really don't have many more options for medium strength high rate-of-fire weaponry, anyway, so perhaps you should stick with them.
ReplyDeleteWell Yriel is a beast. I love him.
ReplyDeleteA great way to be annoying with eldar is to give one of those DA squads a shimmershield, and defend. They become a pain in the ass especially with Eldrad and Yriel hanging out with them. Basically a mini seer council.
Howling banshees are my all time favorite unit. They were the first thing I painted ever for 40k.
There's been a small rise here and there of old foot 'dar lists which basically leverage large Wraithguard squads, Eldrad, Harlies, and some other shooting elements here and there. The reason is that tournament formats are now better supporting those kinds of lists with things like the "all 3 objectives in play at once" (Bay Area Open style) or NoVA's tie down style.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to how the Paladin-Star lists excel at those kinds of events, having extremely tough, very expensive units, which, in Eldar case if you include some Falcons w/ Holo Fields, can move into quarters or onto objectives late game, and perform very well by essentially gaming the format.
